The Minister says

“It is a thrill as well as a challenge to be minister of the Strand Church in Dawlish.  It is a thrill because the church members are lovely people to work with and because the church's situation in the centre of the commercial area of Dawlish gives us unique opportunities. It is already a place people come daily to pray, and the fellowship provides a warm welcome to the lonely and the aged as well as to holiday makers and passers-by.

"It is a challenge because we all recognize that a lot has to be done to the building to make it suitable for the 21st century. Fortunately we have been able to do the first stage which was to make the nave into an open and flexible space and it is already being well used by the community and has given us new opportunities for worshp.

"I believe that God has given us an assurance that he has a purpose for us and he is already preparing us for it. The best is yet to come."

The Church Secretary says

"We are delighted that once again our own minister is resident in Dawlish, and we are also fortunate to have the help of our own lay preachers and retired ministers and a congregation of members willing to do whatever they can to follow God’s calling.

"The last few years have been some of the most exciting and significant in our congregation's life. Attendance has remained steady despite deaths and illness. The pews have been removed to give us a wonderfully flexible space, and we are on the threshold of getting decent toilets. All this has been achieved with the support of a wide section of the local population.

" I believe that we stand on the threshold of thrilling and demanding advance as we seek to serve the Lord.”
